Vanderbijlpark Trauma Counselling Empowerment Centre

Background

The Vanderbijlpark Trauma Counselling Empowerment Centre in short VTCEC was established on the 24 of May 2003 as Victim Friendly Facility initially operating at the SAPS Vanderbijlpark, until the organisation got registered as a non-profit organisation (NPO).The organisation operates 5 days a week with 22 staff members. We offer services to all communities without discrimination basing on gender, race, culture or religion.

 

Area of Operation

Currently the programmes are being implemented in the Vaal region (Sedibeng District) with the focus areas being Vanderbijlpark, Bophelong, Muvhango, Bonane, Boipatong, Barrage and the plots surrounding Bophelong.

We envision a community that is free of social ills and crime

 

Mission

To improve the community’s health and social functioning by empowering them on their rights, equipping them with appropriate resources and educating them on the social and health skills.

 

Aims and Objectives

  • To educate the community on their rights
  • To empower victims by providing psychosocial support.
  • To provide therapeutic counselling to victims of crimes.
  • To seek  restorative justice and reparation to the victims of crime
  • To create synergies with organisations and stakeholders that operates in the victim empowerment thematic area.
